Amaranth
Seabeach Amaranth (Amaranthus pumilus) is Federally listed as a threatened species. A flowering annual endemic to barrier islands on the east coast, it persists in a narrow elevation range.

A National Park Service restoration effort has studied amaranth propagation, habitat modeling, transplant, and monitoring at Cape Hatteras. NGS contributed by providing GPS vertical control and assisting with transplanting.
